Qatar signs deal with China to supply gas for 27 year

The recent volatility of gas supply since the Ukraine war has driven country leaders to understand the importance of having long-term energy supply.

QatarEnergy chief Saad al-Kaabi said that they are happy about the firm signed a 27-year sales and purchase agreement with Sinopec of China. This agreement is the longest in the history of liquefied natural gas deals and an important milestone for North Field East Project. The North Field is part of the world’s biggest gas field what Qatar shares with Iran.

Founded in 1829

Although Europeans had contact with the west coast of the ‘Great Southern Land’ from the 17th century, European settlement did not take place until the 19th century. Indeed, it was not until May of 1829 that Britain’s Swan River Colony – renamed Western Australia in 1832 – was formally established. Celebrations were held for the centenary of Western Australia in 1929 and included the issue of the 1929 Western Australia Centenary Medal.

An iconic element Australian numismatics, the 1929 Western Australia Centenary Medal was struck at the Perth Mint. The obverse carries the portrait of George V by Australian artist Sir Bertram Mackennal – so well known from its employment upon Australian coinage from 1911 to 1936. The reverse carries George Kruger Gray’s distinctive, vigorous portrayal of a Black Swan, one of Western Australia’s most powerful symbols. Spanning an imposing 38mm, the 1929 Western Australia Centenary Medal is presented in Very Fine to Extremely Fine.

Rishi Sunak will be the first person of colour to lead the UK

Rishi Sunak, whose parents came to the UK from the East Africa in the 1960s, is of Indian descent. His father was a local doctor while his mother ran a pharmacy in southern England. Sunak studied at the exclusive Winchester College, Oxford, and Stanford universities. He is known for his expensive taste in fashion and has worked for banks and hedge funds including Goldman Sachs.

Sunak has also been scrutinized over the tax arrangements of his wife Akahata Murty, the daughter of an Indian billionaire. In 2022, Sunak and his wife appeared on the Sunday Times Rich List of the UK’s 250 wealthiest people.

Sunak stood by Johnson for a long time. However, he turned against him after Johnson’s slow act for the Partygate scandal. Thereafter, Sunak’s shock resignation let to Johnson’s demise. Johnson believes Sunak betrayed him by resigning from his government which triggering his resignation on July 7 this year.

The Royal Mint – His Majesty The King’s Official Coinage Portrait

The Royal Mint, the official maker of UK coins, has confirmed that coins featuring the portrait of His Majesty King Charles III will enter circulation.

There are approximately 27 billion coins currently circulating in the UK bearing the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

“Queen Elizabeth II ruled with heart and devotion, and will be dearly missed by millions of people around the world.

The King’s portrait will first appear on a £5 coin and 50p commemorating the life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The 50p will enter circulation to mark the historic moment, and coins featuring His Majesty and Queen Elizabeth II will co-circulate in the UK.

The King’s effigy has been created by renowned British sculptor Martin Jennings, and has been personally approved by His Majesty. In keeping with tradition, The King’s portrait faces to the left, the opposite direction to Queen Elizabeth II. The Latin inscription surrounding the effigy reads “• CHARLES III • D • G • REX • F • D • 5 POUNDS • 2022” which equates to ‘Charles III, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith’. The effigy will start to appear on circulating and commemorative coins produced by The Royal Mint over the coming months.

UK government warns China is recruiting UK pilots to train its military

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) warns that it believes former British pilots or even serving British pilots are being lured to China with large compensative packages to train People’s Liberation Army personnel in the People’s Republic of China.

To stop Chinese recruitment schemes to headhunt serving and former UK Armed Forces pilots, MoD are taking decisive steps. The MoD said that there was no evidence to suggest that any former UK pilots have passed on any information which would violate the Official Secret Act.

In the meantime, Britain’s Minister of State said the UK government will looking to change the law to punish military pilots who pass on their expertise to the Chinese army. He also mentioned that there is no secret in their attempt to gain access to our secrets, and Chinese recruitment of UK pilots in order to understand the capabilities of IL air force is clearly a concern to UK government He expressed that China is a competitor that is threatening the UK interest in many places around the world.
