Nothing Gold Can Stay

Last Friday night, my boss and I had dinner at one of the local popular Japanese restaurant. The view overthere was stunning. It was amazing that having delicious Japan cusine and breathtaking skyline at the same time.

“Let’s go to Japan once the pandemic ends” he suggested.

“Ya, but I can see the end this year.”

“That’s why I booked this Japanese restaurant. I missed Japan so much” he said.

“2019. it was an extraordinary year.”

“Sure.” I agreed.

“Life is short. So do the things which make you happy. And be with people who make you happy. Look for the food in every day even…even if some days you have to look harder.” He looked at my eyes.

“Yup, sometimes I remember the days in 2019.”

“Nothing gold can stay.” He said and drink his sake.

Yes, nothing gold can stay. Everything changed in 2019 and things cannot go back to the way they like in 2019.

Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subside to lead. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day, Nothing gold can stay.

War does not determine who is right, only who is left.

I am sorry that I didn’t update my stories with my boss for this week as I was super busy. The world are debating and concerning the situation in Afghanistian in these few days. And Biden adminstration is busy about blaming everyone but himself for the chaotic withdrawal from there.

“Before the militory withdrawal from Afghanistian, people are concerning about when will the US government withdraw. After the chaotic withdrawal from there, people are concerning about how did the US government withdraw.” My boss rolls his mobile and says.

“Yup, but Mr. Biden has already expained that there is never a good time to withdraw US forces. And people agree to withdraw US troops from there at the very begining.” I say.

“The main concern is Democracy will be a problem sometime.” He explains.

“May I ask why?” I confuse.

“Decision making is too slow. Sometime we need to do it fast.” he emphasises. “Reacting time is the key especially during wars. You cannot wait!” he stresses.

“No mather how powerful of your armaments, no mather how advanced of your militory technology, if you don’t act fast, you loss.” He affirms.

“So much of our lives is given over to the consideration.” He suppresses his sadness when he sees the images from the social media.

“Maybe this is one of the problems about work from home.” I say.

Business competitions is on

Running a business is a chanllenge particularly during pandemic. Business environment changes, Business model changes, and customers practices chagnes. And companies have to be more innovative and creative to survive than before.

“Your competitors are doing great discount on products prices. Do we need to follow them?” I ask my boss and show him the advestiment on the social media.

“The company’s best advantage should be a qulity product offered at the right price.” He answers with a smile.

“But they are drawing attention now.” I said. I do not have any ideas about price competition and how the business works. Maybe it is the reason why I am an employee not an entrepreneur.

“If we let low-price competition continue to disturb the market order without containment, it will have an adverse effect on, and cause disorder to, the profession in the long run.” He explains.

“So, should we just…ignore them?” I confuse.

“If you have a successful company, you will get your market share. We don’t have a monopoly. We have market share.” He seems like care nothing about it and then sips his morning coffee as usual.

I look at him and wonder. Will I be a successful entrepreneur one day?

The Summer Rain

It is a summer rain. I see children jumping up and down in the water puddle. They are laughing happily. However, summer rain makes me remember another thing. Something that I hope they never happened.

“let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday.” Boss tells me.

“There are two types of pains, one that hurts you and the other that changes you.” He says.

Messages keep showning up on my phone screen and I cannot avoid seeing them. Thousands of unread messages popping up on my screen. I remember that it happened before. It did happen before. It happened in one summertime. A summertime that I cannot forget or force to remember.

“It is a trap of emotional blackmail. It is a powerful form of manupulation. It leaves you in a fog when there is haze of fear, obligation, and guilt.” He looks at my eyes.

“You need changes.”

I look at him back and say “It’s hard to forget some incidents that gave you so much to remember. Some memories never fade.” I believe that I may nearly cry.

“Sometimes, it’s not only the bad memories that make us sad. But also the happy ones which we know will never happen again.”he murmurs.

But I hear it clearly.
